Raffia is a fibre made from plants, usually palm leaves, and has the texture of paper. Recently raffia accessories such as hats and bags, have come back into fashion. This course will guide you through the complexities of working with raffia yarn and help you to produce a simple sun hat.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
Not suitable for beginners. You will need to be fluent in all the basic crochet stitches, understand the increase/decrease stitches and be able to read a basic crochet pattern.
By the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to:
- Learn how to handle Raffia yarn
- Create a beautiful summer accessory

On completion of this course, what might your next steps be?
You can continue to practice with Raffia yarn, creating other small projects such as place mats, coaters and baskets.

You will find provision on some Saturday and Sunday’s, you will also find courses available in the day and evening at different venues in Cambridge. Courses vary in length from one-off sessions to 10 weeks or more
