Brief Description:
Caricatures are a fun and interesting branch of the graphic arts.
Many famous artists have used them, notable Claude Monet who started his artistic career as a caricaturist.
This course will offer instruction on some fundamental principles so that learners can create a caricature, whether it is just for fun or for a unique and unusual present.
Previous Experience Needed:
No experience necessary.
Course: Outcomes:
1 Select prominent features
2 Experiment with the level of distortion to achieve the effect they want
3 Complete a caricature from a photograph
4 Some learners will apply colour
Course Aims
Use drawing for fun to create either a doodle or more finished work.
See how far it is possible to go in the creation of a caricature.
Materials needed for the day:
A good, clear photograph, either of the face or full body of the person you would like to caricature. The bigger or more prominent they are in the picture the better.
