Brief Description:
Have you ever wondered about East Asian painting and wanted to learn more?
This course will cover the cultural background of East Asian Painting as well as how to paint bamboos and orchids (for beginners).
You will also have an opportunity to paint flowers from life and cover some aspects of landscape painting.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
No previous experience necessary. This course is suitable for all levels. Each student will get individual attention.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the day course you will have had the opportunity to:
• gain confidence in brush control
• understand composition and use of colour
• paint bamboos and orchids
• learn more about the cultural background of East Asian painting
For the session you will need to bring:
Your tutor can provide East Asian (Chinese/Japanese) Brushes and paper. However please feel free to bring along your own East Asian (Chinese/Japanese) brushes, paper and watercolours if you have them and a note pad and pencils.
Please note normal watercolour brushes are not suitable for this genre of painting.
Please also bring a Packed Lunch for the day.
On completion of this course, what might your next steps be?
The tutor will advise on other painting and drawing classes.

Peter CavaciutiI have been teaching for over 30 years. My exhibitions include The Royal Academy, London; Salon de l’Aquarelle de Belgique; Galerie Leda Fletcher, Geneva and The Urasenke Foundation, Kyoto. My demonstrations include the Victoria and Albert Museum and Kettles Yard. The Art Group Ltd, London, publishes my work. I also exhibit in Starts Gallery, Taipei. Locally I take part in the Cambridge Open Studios annual event.
