Brief Description Cushions not only serve the purpose of softening a seat or supporting a back, but can also act as a foil for colour and pattern in a room. Cushions
Cushions not only serve the purpose of softening a seat or supporting a back, but can also act as a foil for colour and pattern in a room. Cushions don’t need to be plain squares of colour – be bold and try circles and other shapes, mix colours and patterns, embroider decorative motifs by hand or machine.
We will create a surface decoration for those who want to be challenged beyond running up cushions or covers on a sewing machine. For those who enjoy the slower pace of stitching by hand there are numerous ways of applying surface decoration , cross stitch, embroidery, quilting and applique can all be used to add a personal touch.
The possibilities are endless and this course is designed to help you explore the creative textile process, giving you support when designing and make a cushion. We will start with developing your creative ideas, using a theme as a starting point, examples: landscape, seascape, natural forms etc. Looking at the structure of the cushion and the decorative elements.
