Brief Description

The First Certificate (Cambridge English: First exam) is at Level B2 of the Council of Europe Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and is an exam for people who need to prove they can use every day written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level for work or study purposes. The course will offer preparation for the exam, although more than one term’s course may be necessary to attain the required level. All four skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking, will be systematically developed and practiced and in-depth exam training will be given.

If you would like to take the FCE exam, you will need to register. This is not through Adult Learn and Train. To access information on exam centers offering this qualification/ booking deadlines and dates for the exam please go onto the website: www.cambridgeopencentre.org/asp_pages/examinations.asp/ You will also be able to access exam practice papers.

The course is priced per 10 weeks (one term); you will find, as most learners do, that you will need more than one term’s tuition to be prepared for the exam (if you choose to enter for it). If this is the case you will be offered the opportunity to re-enrol and pay for another term.
