Brief Description
This French beginners course introduces key structures through a variety of authentic reading, writing and listening materials. A variety of class activities will be used including role-play, games, listening to audio clips, French songs and viewing of French films. Learners will be encouraged to acquire simple everyday conversation that covers a range of topics, linked to everyday situations. There is a test at the end of each term, as well as weekly homework and continuous informal assessment performed through class activities.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the 3 Terms you will have the opportunity to:
Term 1:
• greet people and introduce yourself: nationality, hobbies, etc.
• use numbers and tell the time
• talk about your family and where you live
• learn how to find your way around a town in a French speaking country
• go shopping for food
Term 2:
• talk about your likes and dislikes
• order food in a restaurant or drinks and snacks in a café
• make travel arrangements
• book holiday accommodation
• talk about your job
Term 3:
• describe your daily routine
• ask about local activities
• describe properties
• go shopping for clothes
• learn how to form the present tense
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
No previous experience or knowledge is required.

You will probably want to make your own notes, so bring along a notebook or folder and something to write with.
