Brief Description:

This online Japanese course is for absolute beginners to develop basic speaking and listening skills in everyday situations, to read and write Hiragana and Katakana as well as recognise some Kanji, to help you speak with confidence.

Please note: This course is delivered online; you must be able to join in with ‘Google Meet’ or ‘Google classroom’ at the time the course takes place. You will need a device to access the lessons and WIFI.

Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?

No previous experience or knowledge is required.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the first term you will have the opportunity to:
use greetings, make introductions, and give personal information
order drinks and snacks at a coffee shop
offer someone a drink …. and to accept or refuse
ask for and give directions
find out about places and how to get there
read and write Hiragana and Katakana

Yukiko Isono has been teaching Japanese in the UK since 1980 and has developed Japanese teaching methods for adult learners. She is the author of “BBC Talk Japanese”.
