This short 7.5-hour course is for adults who are considering the full GCSE Maths course. This course will help you to feel more confident in algebra, geometry, number and data. You will also gain an overview of the GCSE syllabus and the full course commitments.
2 sessions (Tuesday 14/9/21, Saturday 18/9/21)
TUESDAY 18.30-21.00 and SATURDAY 10.00-15.00
The course will be held in centre at Coleridge Community College, Radegund Road, Cambridge, CB1 3RJ; in order not to disrupt the learning it may be necessary to change to live streaming subject to government advice, COVID guidelines. Therefore, you will need an email address, a reliable internet connection, a computer/laptop/tablet with fully updated browser.
You should have studied mathematics to Functional Skills Level 2 or have a recent GCSE grade D/3 (or equivalent). Please contact the office if you have ‘O’-levels / CSEs or qualifications from outside the UK to check equivalency.
This course is key to you finding out about the full year course. It will include introductory sessions on Algebra, Number, Geometry and Data; guidance about which tier / grade you are working at and an overview of the GCSE Maths syllabus and exams. Work will be set each week, to be completed before the following lesson. An individual learning plan will be completed weekly with your tutor.
The course is fully funded by Cambridgeshire Skills – full attendance is required. You will complete an enrolment form, so that funding can be applied for; you will also need to provide your National Insurance number and show a form of photographic ID (passport, driving licence etc.)
On completion of this course, the tutor will advise about enrolling on the full year GCSE Maths course; runs mid-September to June.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
