Brief Description
Learn the basics of dressmaking pattern drafting on this one day course. Create a simple, fitted skirt pattern, using your own body measurements and learn how to adapt it in to different styles using pattern drafting techniques.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
You will need to have previous dressmaking knowledge and understand garment construction techniques.
This course is not suitable for beginners.
Learning Outcomes:
You will learn how to create and adapt paper sewing patterns to create different styles of clothing. You will be able to take on more challenging dressmaking projects on completion of this course.
Extra costs on the course for example text book, materials or equipment:
You will need calico fabric – 1.5 metres
For the first session you will need to bring:
Notepad and pen, ruler and pencil, sewing machine and usual sewing equipment, 1.5 metres of calico fabric. Pattern drafting paper will be provided and sewing machines can be borrowed from the college, if preferred.

Linda CouchLinda Couch works as a theatrical and re-enactment costume maker and bridal seamstress for over twenty years. Additionally, she has her own successful costume label Milly Maybe. She also teaches dressmaking and creative sewing workshops for all levels for both adults and children.
