Brief Description:

Dive into the enchanting world of wave-inspired wire bangle making, a unique and innovative course designed to unleash your creativity and craftsmanship. This course invites participants to engage in hands-on workshops that provide practical experience and expert guidance in wave-inspired bangle making. With multiple interpretations and aesthetics possible, you’ll have the opportunity to create a personalize pieces that reflects your artistic vision and style.

 

Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?

Manual dexterity is needed. No prior knowledge of working with silver is needed.

 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to learn
  • Wave Shape Fundamentals: Understand the fundamental principles of wave shapes and their applications in bangle design.
  • Design Techniques: Learn diverse design techniques to craft intricate wave patterns, including twisting, bending, and layering.
  • Traditional handmade silver-smithing techniques including accurate measuring, straightening wire, forging, forming and soldering
  • Finishing and polishing : Add finishing touches to your bangle with polishing, to enhance its beauty and durability.
  • Customization: Personalise your bangles with unique elements and details, making each piece a true reflection of your creativity.

 

Extra costs on the course for example text book, materials or equipment:

The fee includes your silver for making one bangle, There may be an opportunity to purchase stones/extra silver so feel free to bring some cash with you.

Learners will be advised on the most cost effective way to cast their wax sculptures in their metal of choice.

 

For the first session you will need to bring:

Please bring a pen, pencil and notebook. Tools will be provided but feel free to bring your own. You may wish to bring an apron, and glasses if you wear them for reading.

Liz TaylorLiz Taylor is the owner of a successful contemporary handmade jewellery business, The Silver Bird (www.thesilverbird.co.uk). She is a passionate teacher of Design and Technology with over 18 years teaching experience. She has a masters of education focusing on creative idea generation and development and has a particular interest in biomimicry: using and replicating nature through product design to make unique textures and forms. She teaches marking out, piercing, finishing techniques, hammering, gemstone setting, adding texture to metals, rolling, forging, fold forming, and much more.
