Learner Outcomes
By the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to:
- Learn how to prepare the fabric for dye.
- Practise different tie techniques to create intricate designs.
Extra costs on the course for example text book, materials or equipment:
We will provide some squares of fabric to test out techniques but for your final project of the day you will need either a t-shirt, bag or large piece of fabric to dye.
For the first session you will need to bring:
Something to cover your clothing like an apron or an old shirt. The dye is permanent on fabrics and spills often happen! As above something to complete your final design on i.e. t-shirt.
On completion of this course, what might your next steps be?
Create a wardrobe full of fun unique tie dyed garments.
Adult Learn and Train offer courses through-out the year.
Try similar courses or look at learning something completely new.
You will find provision on some Saturday and Sundays, you will also find courses available in the day and evening at different venues in Cambridge. Courses vary in length from one-off sessions to 10 weeks or more.

Tutor
Sarah PonsonbySince graduating in 2012 with a BA in Fashion, I’ve been working with some of the well-known Highstreet fashion brands in the UK developing new products and looking at fabric innovation. In 2019 I started my business, Stitches, teaching various textile classes around Cambridgeshire. It’s a real joy for me, giving others the ability to express themselves in a creative way and seeing my pupils work come to actuality.
