Brief Description:

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at willow weaving? Come to this weekend in Cambridge and learn weaving techniques to create an asymmetric basket using traditional basketry techniques.

This two day workshop is suitable for those with some previous weaving experience.   You will learn how to weave a contemporary round based willow basket, how to select appropriate material for the basket and be guided through each stage of the basket making process to create a contemporary asymmetric basket

Previous Experience and Knowledge needed?

Some previous weaving experience would be beneficial.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to:

• Create a circular base, add upright stakes and the upsett
• Weaving the sides using traditional weaving patterns: French randing, English randing and double French randing and a double zig zag weave.
• Creating a staggered border
• Preparing and installing a wooden handle

For the first session you will need to bring:

A notepad and pen. Please also bring a packed lunch each day
