EXTRA CLASS: NEW timing 1pm-4pm as the advertised morning class is now full
Start the countdown to the festive season in style this year with your own fresh, long lasting festive ring. With no knowledge of flower arranging required, come along and learn how to create a ring with long lasting pine and other long lasting plant material including decoration to mark the season. If you would rather complete a table based advent ring rather than a hanging door ring just let me know at the start of the day. All materials are included in the course fee. This workshop is always popular so book early to secure your place.
This course may also be combined with the afternoon session for a complete festive floral day.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
No knowledge required, just a love of flowers. Please notify the college of any plant allergies before the course.
By the end of this course the participants will be able to:
• Apply techniques to create an advent ring or hanging door ring to take home for the festive season
• Know how to care for your completed floral work to maximise its life
• Learn how to safely and securely include wired accessories
Extra costs on the course for example text book, materials or equipment:
There is an allowance included in the fee for all plant material and sundries used.
You will need to bring:
Strong scissors (the college has a small number for your use), wire cutters if you have them, bin bag, notebook and pen if you want to record any information for yourself, camera (optional), apron. Also a crate or semi rigid bag (e.g. supermarket hessian bag) to transport your design. You may wish to provide protective disposable gloves for your hands or hand wipes as the plant material can get messy! Bring a packed lunch if staying all day.
No exam. This is a leisure class
You will record your progress through completed designs and one to one discussions with the tutor.
On completion of this course, what might your next steps be?
Flower arranging leisure course on Thursday evenings at Coleridge or beginners courses on Tuesday afternoons or evenings at Trumpington.
Further floral workshops e.g. Wedding Flowers on the 2nd and 3rd February 2019, Joyful Germini on the 16 March 2019 and Summer Topiary including Succulents on the 18 May 2019
The Learn and Train office is able to give course information or search for alternative courses for you.
Helen AllenI have many years’ experience in floral design with my creations appearing in international magazines. I won ‘student of the year’ for my ANC floristry exam. Being freelance as ‘Verdila flowers’ I teach many different groups including sheltered schemes, and I am busy with wedding and event work especially in the summer months.
