Course details

Brief Description:

This is a full day wedding floral decor course, which covers a lot of ground. You will learn the basics of wedding table and pew end floristry concentrating on the vintage style. You will create a table centerpiece and a pew ends and learn techniques for other optional designs. No knowledge of flower arranging is required. All materials are included in the course fee. Combine with ‘Affordable wedding floristry’ for a complete wedding floral course.

Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?

No knowledge required, just a love of flowers

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:
● Apply techniques to create a wedding table centrepiece in rustic style
● Apply techniques to create a hanging floral suitable for a pew end or chair back
● Know how to care for your completed floral work to maximise its life
● Discover the theory of a good table centre arrangement and pew end

Extra costs on the course for example text book, materials or equipment:

There is an allowance included in the fee for all plant material and sundries used on the day

You will need to bring:

Strong scissors, (wire cutters if you have them) bin bag, notebook and pen if you want to record any information for yourself, camera (optional), apron, spare plaster and hand wipes. Also, a bag to transport your designs. Please notify the college of any plant allergies before the course. Bring a snack. Drinks available.

Examination Fees: No exam. This is a leisure class

You will record your progress through completed designs and one to one discussions with the tutor.

On completion of this course, what might your next steps be?

Flower arranging leisure course on Thursday evenings at Coleridge or beginners courses on Tuesday afternoons or evening at Trumpington or Coleridge.
Further floral workshops
eg, Joyful Germini on 16 March at Trumpington and Summer Topiary including Succulents on 18 May 2019 at the Coleridge campus.

Helen AllenI have many years’ experience in floral design with my creations appearing in international magazines. I won ‘student of the year’ for my ANC floristry exam. Being freelance as ‘Verdila flowers’ I teach many different groups including sheltered schemes, and I am busy with wedding and event work especially in the summer months.
