Are you interested in silver jewellery? Then this is the course for you! Throughout the course you will develop skills in design, soldering, piercing with a jewellery saw, filing and polishing. Your first project will be to design and make a silver ring.
PLEASE NOTE: No Classes on 21st February or 7th March 2019
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
Manual dexterity is needed. 20 hours previous learning is desirable (or a weekend course).
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
• Handle and recognise silversmithing tools safely.
• Practice metal forming, wire bending, soldering, and rub-over stone setting techniques.
• Develop skills in forming, annealing and pickling metal to shape a flat band ring.
• Prepare silver prior to soldering or polishing.
• Apply techniques learned to make items of silver jewellery.
Extra costs on the course for example text book, materials or equipment
There will be some extra costs – usually no more than £5. The course includes £20 of silver, you will have the option of purchasing more silver and gem stones from the tutor if required.
For the first session you will need to bring:
Pen – tools will be provided but feel free to bring your own.
