Course details

Brief Description:

This short online 10 hour course is for adults who need to get started/begin to learn Maths again prior to joining a fully accredited Maths Functional Skills course from October 2020.  We will deliver this remote course through a virtual class environment with group participation. It will help the learner feel more confident in using numbers for everyday things like money, time, distance, shape and position.  The course will help the learner to adjust and prepare for the full year course.

It will include a diagnostic screening, discussion of prior learning, an overview of the Functional Skills syllabus and requirements. Introductory sessions on Number, Measure and Data.

Please note: This course is delivered online; you must be able to join in with ‘Google Meet’ or ‘Google classroom’ class teaching (at 6 pm), and submit your work weekly by photograph/scan or email to your tutor. You will be set work each week and will be required to complete it before the following lesson.

The course is fully funded by Cambridgeshire Skills, so full attendance is required; you will also need to complete an enrolment form so that the office can apply for the funding and complete an individual learning plan weekly with your tutor. It will consist of four sessions of 2.5 hours guided learning. It will run on four consecutive Monday evenings, starting on the 7th September 2020.
