Brief Description:

Would you like to practise mindfulness meditation in the green outdoors?

Have you already completed the Mindfulness for Health programme and wish to combine the healing power of meditation with gentle exercise  while listening to birdsong? If so, this programme may be right up your green path!

Our Mindful Green Coach is offering a new course that leads the group out of the classroom and into Coleridge Rec to practise mindful movement, meditations on the raw beauty of nature and the chance to unplug from a busy stressful schedule with the support of others in the same boat. Learners will be taught the essentials in the comfort of the classroom before setting off on a short walk to the large green expanse of the Rec under the setting sun of late spring. The programme will teach you to practise mindfulness meditation when you most need it, e.g. to help you get through a bad day at work, to help you manage a chronic health condition or to help you  as a carer who really needs a way of learning to switch off and self-care.

Learning outcomes:

  • To become more confident and competent at stress-reduction meditation
  • To better understand your stress response and how mindfulness meditation can help reduce stress
  • To feel more comfortable and safe to spend time in public green spaces to help  manage life’s challenges
  • To increase your self-care toolkit to build emotional resilience
  • To connect with others to share experience and build friendships

David LynchDavid has been practising mindfulness meditation for 20 years, and continues to practise to help him to live with anxiety and stress, while living a good life. He trained to teach the skill and philosophy in 2017, to add to his expertise as a teacher of French and English. He is an advocate for the power of learning to improve health and wellbeing, and is committed to increasing access to these mind training skills in partnership with others. He also teaches at The Arthur Rank Hospice and the Cambridge Centre for Cancer Support.
