Brief Description:
This online cookery course will show you how to make some traditional Ukrainian dishes.
- These include the gorgeous Borscht, (A beet soup of the Slavic countries.)
- Holubsti (cabbage leaves stuffed with mince, rice and vegetables covered in a rich tomato sauce.
- Pierogies (It is a dumpling filled with potato and cheese)
Please note: This course is delivered online; you must be able to join in with Microsoft Teams at the time the course takes place. You will need a device to access the lessons and WIFI.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
No previous knowledge or experience is needed. The course will suit ‘Host families’ or people thinking about hosting Ukrainian guests or anyone interested in learning new culinary techniques.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to:
- Enhance your listening skills
- Follow instructions successfully
- Develop good organisational skills (such as having the equipment and ingredients ready before the lesson starts)
- Learn about the correct temperature and time.
- Showcase your skills and knowledge for Ukrainian guests and their families.
Extra costs on the course for example textbook, materials or equipment:
Cost of ingredients
For the first session you will need to bring:
A large oven proof dish, chopping board, sharp knife, large saucepan, serving bowls.
The recipes with ingredients will be sent via email.
Ingredients include:
Smoked pork sausage, garlic bulb, onions, tomato puree ,tin of tomatoes, chicken stock, sour cream, beetroot, potato, olive oil, vinegar, eggs, black pepper, paprika, carrot, minced beef, savoy cabbage, long grain rice cooked, mashed potato, grated cheese, diced bacon.
