Do you love textiles? Are you looking for a fun, relaxing day out? Then look no further! Coleridge Community College is running a needle felting day course. Here is your chance to meet up with like-minded people in a central Cambridge location, and take part in a needle felting course. You will learn the basics of this technique using wisps of soft fleece to create the most amazing three dimensional craft work in the form of a beautiful panda brooch. During the day you will learn how make the basic shape of a panda.

By the end of the day you will have:

• Made ears, eyes and the nose and attached them to a ball to make a head.
• Learned to shape the needle felt, as you progress
• Made eye holes and attached beads for eyes, or used fleece
• Hand stitched the detail and the clasp to make your brooch.

YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE:

  • Small thin pliers
  • Small fabric scissors
  • A thimble
  • A craft knife
  • A skewer
  • Beading and embroidery needles

THE TUTOR WILL PROVIDE:

  • A felting block, sponge or a block of polystyrene                                                  (this will need to be returned to me)
  • A felting needle – size 36
  • Black thread
  • Two black beads
  • Merino wool in black and white
  • A brooch to attach to your finished panda!
