Brief Description
This course is aimed at anyone who would like to know more about European painting between 1880–1920. It will be a basic introduction to the main art movements during this period, including the Pre-Raphaelites, Impressionism, Symbolism, Secessionism and The Glasgow Style. A wide range of artists, including Klimt, Morisot, Waterhouse, Macintosh and more, will be studied each week so that students can gain an insight into how the periods linked together, and why these particular artists and their works were so important during this fast-developing era.
For anyone who didn't go on the Trip to the 'Renoir in Love' exhibition' , there will be the opportunity to see an Arts Screening about the exhibition on Tuesday 19 Jan at 6pm, At the Arts Picturehouse, Cambridge. This will cost approx. £15, unless you are a Member, and then it's cheaper.
