Scripted in Spring: Chinese Characters, Calligraphy and Culture

02/02/2026

Duration : 6.30 - 9.00 pm

| Arts & Craft

Join our lively introduction and hands-on workshop to the fascinating world of Chinese characters, perfectly timed for the season leading up to the Chinese Spring Festival, and a wonderful chance to experience how language opens a window into another culture.

Brief Description:

We will explore how Chinese characters were created and how they evolved from the earliest oracle bone inscriptions into the modern forms used today. You’ll uncover the meanings behind commonly used characters and learn how structure and radicals reveal meaning, how their formation reflects early understandings of nature and daily life, and how these elements connect to Chinese culture.
As we approach the Spring Festival, you’ll be introduced to the 12 Chinese zodiac animals and create your own Fu (good fortune) decoration using traditional calligraphy materials.
