This is a course for beginners where you will learn how to write and read in Arabic Language. You will also develop your listening and speaking skills. Arabic is the fourth most spoken language in the world. About 315 million people in 58 countries speak Arabic as their first language. Learners’ needs will be put first and met in order to achieve learning outcomes.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
This course is in its third term; you will need to have covered the outcomes listed below for term 1 and 2. If you are unsure, please contact the office and they will put you in contact with the tutor.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the one year course you will have the opportunity to learn how to :

Identify part of words, words order , How sentences are made ( Morphology/ Syntax)

The course will introduce you to the basics of Chinese pronunciation, characters, sentence structures and cultural background through a variety of reading, writing, listening and speaking materials and activities. After completing the course, you will be expected to be able to engage in simple daily conversation on the topics covered. You are also encouraged to write Chinese characters and get a better appreciation of their components and their often ideographic origin. The course is priced for 10 weeks (one term); To complete the full course and cover all the learning outcomes listed below you will need to attend 3 terms (there is no obligation to attend more than one term).
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
This is the third term, you will need to have some experience in the topics listed below for term 1 and 2.

- Learn the Chinese Pinyin; origin of the Chinese characters

Brief Description:
This course is suitable for advanced students who have already reached a good level of fluency either by attending formal classes or by living, working or having frequent holidays in Italy. A sound knowledge of the language structure and basic grammar is required, together with the ability to read and understand original materials. You are expected to contribute actively to class discussions on a wide range of topics including current affairs, social issues, literature and cinema. You should also be able to demonstrate a high level of interest not only for the Italian language, but also for the Country’s history, culture and society.
The main aim of the course is to teach you how to use and manipulate the language to high standards mainly through the development of speaking skills. Other activities will include research on specific topics, reading of newspapers and literature, presentations, listening exercises and written homework. There will also be some revision of specific elements of grammar upon students’ request.
The course is priced for one term (9 weeks in the third term); To complete the full course and cover all the learning outcomes listed below you will need to attend all three terms (there is no obligation to attend more than one term).

The course is suitable for those of you who have already studied Italian for several years. A good understanding of the structure and basic grammar of the language is required, together with the ability to read and understand original materials. Have you ever wanted to learn Italian? Then this is the course for you! The course is for beginners and is designed to give you a basic knowledge of the Italian language.
By the end of the course you will be familiar with the basic structure of the Italian language and have a sufficient vocabulary that will allow you to communicate with native speakers in most everyday situations. The language will be taught in the context of the social, cultural and historical aspects of Italy.
A variety of activities will be used, including dialogue development, listening practice, grammar exercises and focus work on cultural aspects of Italy. The course will be based on communicative methods and active participation will be strongly encouraged. There will be regular homework to consolidate what has been learnt in class and to assess your progress.
