Brief description
This is a wonderful course of facial pampering and wellbeing, incorporating Face Yoga, Gua Sha and Acupressure.
All the combined feel-good methods to really enhance our overall wellbeing.
Face Yoga which lifts and firms the skin. It also oxygenates the skin, brightens the skins, reducing tension from the face. Other benefits are fewer headaches, eye strain and sinus issues. It reduces wrinkles, smooths the forehead and defines the jawline and much more.
Gua Sha is the perfect companion to face yoga, they work marvellously together. Gua Sha, pronounced “Gwah Sha” is a Chinese therapeutic technique that has been practised for thousands of years in China. It uses a round edge tool that strokes the skin until redness appears. Some of the benefits are: increased microcirculation by 400%; floods the skin with nutrients; removes toxins through the lymphatic system; improves muscle tone; lifts brows; plumps lips; sculpts and contours cheeks and jawline.
Acupressure is applying pressure to specific points on the face. This will stimulate and balance the flow of energy within. This will improve your skin health, and reduce for example sinus problems, headaches and eye strain and more.

Brief Description:
Have you ever wanted to try Pilates but you were not exactly sure what it involved and whether it would be suitable for you? Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being.
Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. The chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise.
It also focuses on the mind-body connection and breathing.
Pilates was invented by Joseph Pilates as an exercise program for injured dancers and soldiers while living in the UK. Joseph Pilates believed that physical and mental health were closely connected.
This form of exercises will help you improve posture, mobility, muscular strength, balance and breathing technique. Each session will aim to build and develop from the previous session. This workout is designed to help you develop leaner, longer-looking muscles, establish core strength and stability and heighten mind-body awareness. Class numbers are limited which gives you an opportunity to interact and be corrected by your tutor.
Therefore Pilates not only improves your physical balance through correct posture but will also restore your mind-body balance.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
This is a beginners plus course, some learners may have been attending a while. Some level of fitness and ability would be beneficial. If you are unsure, contact the office on 01223 712340

Because Pilates can be modified to provide either a gentle strength training program or a challenging workout, most people would have no problem with this form of exercise.
The health benefits include:
Good posture – Pilates will teach you to gain and maintain good posture. The exercises require that your body is always in alignment. This is especially beneficial if you suffer from lower back pain.
Muscle Tone – the exercises involve the use of muscles that you may not use on a daily basis. After the initial soreness, you’ll find that your muscles will be much more toned
Stronger abdominal muscles – Pilates focuses on strengthening your core which includes your abdominal muscles, you’ll find that one of the benefits of Pilates is that it will result in a flat stomach.
Flexibility – Pilates will restore your flexibility
Improves your balance – through the mind-body connection which is taught in Pilates you will become much more aware of how your body moves and performs. Therefore Pilates not only improves your physical balance through correct posture but will also restore your mind-body balance.
Pilates gives you a general sense of well-being – because it focuses on providing balance between your mind and body.

Course details
The art of Chi Kung uses a range of simple exercises without the need to learn a complicated sequence of movements. These exercises integrate breathing, posture and meditation into flowing practices that help to promote good physical and mental health and stress release. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace in a calm and non-competitive environment. All of the chi kung exercises are performed standing. Individual adaptations according to needs and abilities are possible.
The exercises are drawn from a variety of traditional sources including T’ai Chi Chuan itself. This T’ai Chi and Chi Kung Exercise course is appropriate for Beginners or those with more experience. New people are welcome at any time.
