BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Astrology is probably the most ancient form of psychology in existence, dating back at least 4000 years. It offers fascinating insights into human character, revealing an individual’s unique potential; one’s drives and needs, values and beliefs, hopes and dreams, as well as one’s special talents. The aim of the course is to give you some understanding of how to start interpreting your own astrological birth chart. Join the course and take your first few steps on an exciting journey of self-discovery!
OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE:
By the end of the course, you will:
- understand what modern psychological astrology really is – what it can and cannot do for you
- learn the basic meanings of the planets, signs, houses and aspects in astrology, using keywords
- be aware of the range of possible meanings of the planets when located in different zodiacal signs and houses, and when connected by aspects
- be able to identify and describe some of the most important features of your own astrological birth chart, and the charts of others
- know a little about the history of astrology and the ancient myths that can help us understand modern astrology
- understand what the next step(s) might be should you want to take astrology further
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE NEEDED:
The course is aimed at students with no previous experience of astrology, however those who already have some basic knowledge of the subject are also welcome. The course is suitable for all open-minded individuals – whatever their age or background – who are interested in increasing their self-awareness and discovering something about their potential through the use of modern psychological astrology.
THE CLASSES:
The classes will involve short presentations followed by discussions both in small groups and with the whole class (this is by far the best way to learn!). There will be no requirement for students to put their own chart forward unless you want to. However, a full class participation will be encouraged! We will also use charts of celebrities (using examples that interest the class). The classes and discussions will be chatty, relaxed and informal, and would involve the students as much as the instructor.
EXTRA COSTS ON THE COURSE FOR EXAMPLE TEXTBOOK, MATERIALS OR EQUIPMENT:
There are no extra costs on the course.
WHEN ENROLING YOU WILL NEED TO SUPPLY:
Your date and place of birth with a reasonably accurate birth time if possible.
On completion of this course, what might your next steps be?

Try similar courses or maybe look at learning something completely new.
You will find provision on some Saturday and Sunday’s, you will also find courses available in the day and evening at different venues in Cambridge. Courses vary in length from one-off sessions to 10 weeks or more.

Did you enjoy playing games as a kid? Do you like quizzes, reading, and meeting new people? How would you like to do all of the above in a new class starting this September?
In this class, you’ll learn to think in entirely new ways, test your observation skills, and have a lot of fun! This class is all about looking, listening, and reacting to what others do in a playful, safe environment. This is drama, but not in the traditional sense—no scripts, just pure imagination. It will challenge your observation skills, encourage you to think creatively, and help you make new friends along the way. If you need some fun in your life and want to improve your memory while getting a bit of exercise (mainly from laughing), come and join this class!
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
No experience necessary. Just an interest in doing something fun!
How you will learn:
- ‘Looking’ games – testing your observation skills, in a group.
- Using props, the room and your imagination to answer questions
- Working in groups or pairs
- Taking part in treasure hunts, and other thought provoking games
- Using your imagination
- Using colour, words and your memory as you interact with others
- Improvisation is key!
Extra costs on the course for example textbook, materials or equipment
None! You just need to bring yourself and your imagination!
On completion of this course, what might your next steps be?
A follow-on course focusing on word association games.

Brief Description:
Have you ever wanted to try Pilates but you were not exactly sure what it involved and whether it would be suitable for you? Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being.
Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. In Pilates the chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise.
Pilates also focuses on the mind-body connection and breathing.
Pilates was invented by Joseph Pilates as an exercise program for injured dancers and soldiers while living in the UK. Joseph Pilates believed that physical and mental health were closely connected.
Beginner level exercises will help you improve posture, mobility, muscular strength and breathing technique. Each session will aim to build and develop from the previous session. This workout is designed to help you develop leaner, longer-looking muscles, establish core strength and stability and heighten mind-body awareness. Class numbers are limited which gives you an opportunity to interact and be corrected by your tutor.
Because Pilates can be modified to provide either a gentle strength training program or a challenging workout, most people would have no problem with this form of exercise. It is suitable both for beginners and for people who already exercise regularly.
As listed above, the health benefits include:
Good posture – Pilates will teach you to gain and maintain good posture. The exercises require that your body is always in alignment. This is especially beneficial if you suffer from lower back pain.
Muscle Tone – The exercises involve the use of muscles that you may not use on a daily basis. After the initial soreness, you’ll find that your muscles will become more toned.
Stronger abdominal muscles – Pilates focuses on strengthening your core which includes your abdominal muscles.
Flexibility – Pilates will increase your flexibility
Improves your balance – Through the mind-body connection which is taught in Pilates you will become much more aware of how your body moves and performs. Therefore Pilates not only improves your physical balance through correct posture but will also restore your mind-body balance.
Gives you a general sense of well-being – Because Pilates focuses on providing balance between your mind and body it gives you an overall sense of well-being.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
No Previous experience necessary.

By the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to:

Question and answer:
Q= I am taking HRT. Are there any contra-indications to using essential oils for me?
A= There are no contra-indications per se to using essential oils while using HRT, however, essential oils can be hormone balancers. Your symptoms may change, in which case you may want to review your prescription with your GP.
In a case where someone has a hormone dependent tumour and uses HRT, the topical use of hormone balancing oils needs to be avoided, as is the case with any hormone dependent cancers. Professional Aromatherapists in the UK do not advocate internal use of essential oils. Where there are hormone balancing essential oils diffused into a public space, the risk is minimal. This is because the absorption rate through the lungs and nose is unlikely to affect you physically. Diffused essential oils affect your mental and emotional being by being absorbed via the limbic system, i.e. inhaled through the nose. However, in your own home it would be sensible to avoid using hormone balancing altogether..
So, hormone dependent cancers mean some essential oils cannot be used, HRT itself is not a contra-indication for essential oils.
